The Hollywood Foreign Press Association did something relatively evil with its Golden Globe nominations this year: pit the industry's most beloved new best friends, Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer, against each other in the best-actress-in-a-comedy category. Despite the friendly competition, Lawrence and Schumer kept their separate red-carpet appearances lighthearted, telling reporters how excited they were to attend their first formal Hollywood function together. And when it came time for the category's winner to be announced, Lawrence and Schumer had shifted seats inside the Beverly Hilton ballroom so that they were sitting next to each other when the victor, who turned out to be Lawrence, was called

Afterward, Lawrence made her way backstage to answer questions from press and confirm that there will be no hard feelings between the screenwriting partners

“She's going to be fine,” Lawrence said of Schumer, after a journalist asked if she felt bad about besting the Trainwreck star. “It wasn't a matter of feeling bad because she's funny and hilarious and will win many things. I just really expected Amy to win. This was very truly surprising for me. I was just really surprised

Even though she topped Schumer in Sunday’s awards arena, Lawrence said that she was still most excited to celebrate the evening with the Emmy winner, in addition to her frequent film collaborator David O. Russell. “Now I get all of the attention [from him] because I'm the only one from the [Joy] cast here,” Lawrence said excitedly

In the weeks leading up to the Golden Globes, Lawrence stoked Internet excitement by teasing that she and Schumer planned to wear the same dress to the ceremony. And the actress maintained that she was serious about the matching outfits, before she foiled her own plan

“I blew it by talking about it, so then if we did [wear the same ensemble] it was expected. But we just wore our own thing.” After a beat, Lawrence followed up with the reporter who had asked her the clothing question: “I hope you were still satisfied by what we were wearing. . . but it sounds like you weren't

Even though the project for which Lawrence was being heralded at this year's Golden Globes was different than prior years, the actress’s endearing spitfire attitude remained

A sheepish reporter, attempting to covertly tape the exchange on his iPhone, couldn't even get two words of his question out before Lawrence interrupted
